As we progress into week 4, this class has proven to be quite a challenge as an independent class. With struggles with maps and the software, it has led to a more face to face interaction with individuals within the community. This has been quite beneficial to identify areas that need to be improved. This includes aspects to Healthy habitats and people. I like having a more face to face interaction to learn about the various aspects of the community I am focusing on. By being employed as a EMT/Fire fighter in the town I selected, I have a lot of opportunity to interact with the public. This includes business owners, citizens, politicians, etc.
With my other career having a lot of travel involved, I have not been able to keep up with the planned assignments. As we roll into week 5 and 6 I will have to play catch up with some of the assignments, as I will be in town for those weeks. Overall this class has been helpful in identifying why towns have progressed to the way they are and the importance of business to those towns. As I am pursuing my MBA, I try to link all learns to what this means from a business standpoint. Some of the key points made in other classes about the effects of business practices on towns and how it can effect ordinary living conditions, this class took an approach in identifying those aspects that could be improved. I think with executives in business taking this class, they can improve in being a good "neighbor" and enhance the community they operate in. |
